These types of properties are often along a highway or main road just outside a town or city. You can typically park your car right outside your door and access it directly. Amenities are more basic too. The cabin rentals at Mackinaw Timbers are cozy, clean and offer all the basic amenities you need, including Wi-Fi, a TV, heat, A/C, and a firepit for those chilly evenings.
Typically, at roadside motor courts the owner or manager lives in a house on the property near the cottages or cabins. At Mackinaw Timbers Cabins, there is no office on site. No one will bother you, but you can relax knowing you're just a text message away from help if needed.
Motels also often fall into this category but typically have more rooms that are connected together in a one- or two-story structure with the management more similar to a hotel.
Hotels are usually much larger with multiple stories and rooms. They are most often found in a more suburban or urban area. Hotel parking is in a large lot which may or may not be free, and located a walk away from the main entrance to a lobby before getting to your room. Hotels and motels offer more amenities such as a restaurant, bar, fitness center, pool, room service, housekeeping, front desk and 24-hour service.
